Amazon Japan Discount Coupons to Introduce New Price Requirements
On February 20, Amazon’s backend was updated with another announcement: starting March 19, 2024, new price requirements will be introduced for Amazon Japan discount coupons. If a coupon’s price or discount does not meet these conditions, the coupon’s ASIN will be temporarily disabled to enable the discount activity.
New Pricing Requirements for Coupons
In order to provide Amazon buyers with coupons that have high integrity and credible discounts, effective March 19, 2024, we are introducing new pricing requirements for coupons. If the price or discount of a coupon’s corresponding ASIN does not meet these requirements, the coupon will temporarily be unavailable for those ASINs.
When a coupon ASIN is disabled due to a pricing error, you will see the following error on the coupon view page.
Item Price History Issue
This ASIN does not meet the coupon price history requirements.The ASIN must have a certain amount of sales history to qualify for sales with coupons. Increase Discount
This ASIN does not meet the item price requirement. The promotional price (Buyable Price – Discount Value) must be less than 1) the historical selling price or 2) the most recent lowest price. Increase your discount value to make this ASIN eligible.
Minimum/Maximum Discount Issues
The coupon requires a discount between the lowest promotional price discount % off your current price and the highest promotional price discount.
If the ASIN for a coupon is not in the search results due to a price setting error, the coupon display page will show the following error message:
- Price history related issue. This ASIN does not meet the price history requirements for the coupon.The ASIN must have a sales history to open the coupon.
- Increase discount rate. This ASIN does not meet the price requirement. The promotional price (Buyable Price – Discount Amount) must be less than: the past price or the most recent lowest price. To set this ASIN as a target, increase the discount amount.
- Minimum/maximum discount related issues. Coupons need to have a discount rate within the range of “Minimum % off sale price” to “Maximum % off sale price” relative to the current price.
Can’t I set up a coupon for a new product after that? Must there be a sales record in order to set a coupon below the minimum price? Some sellers speculate that it may be similar to prime, except that coupons start at 5%. Let’s see if you have this message on your backend, and we can look into it.
